Ensign-Bickford Aerospace & Defense Boosts STEM Education at Farmington High School with a $2,000 Donation from EBI Foundation.
Farmington, CT [November 28, 2023] – Ensign-Bickford Aerospace & Defense (EBAD), a leader in the space and defense industry, proudly announces a donation provided by its parent company, Ensign-Bickford Industries, of $2,000 from the EBI Foundation to Farmington High School’s Capstone Program. The check was presented on November 28th, 2023, by four Farmington High School graduates currently working at EBAD: Ryan Rigney, Kris Picard, Meghan Rigney, and Matthew Crossman.
Farmington High School’s Capstone Program, a beacon for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education, immerses students in a demanding, research-based learning experience, encouraging exploration of personal passions and potential career paths. The Engineering Design and Development Capstone, the apex of the Project Lead the Way sequence, challenges students to collaborate on teams, addressing open-ended engineering challenges under the guidance of community mentors.
Recognizing the constraints that currently limit the realization of students’ innovative ideas at FHS, EBI Foundation’s $2,000 donation will directly impact the program by providing funding for essential materials such as 80/20 Extrusions, #35 Chain Tools, Shafts, Sprockets, Bearings, Pulleys, Specialized Arduino Shields, 6 Gauge Wire and Connectors, and Buckets.
“It is rewarding to be able to give back to this amazing program which started my engineering journey, by providing students with the same resources I was fortunate enough to have, enabling our Capstone prototypes to take form. I look forward to continuing to follow along, as students develop their engineering skills, while solving real world problems.” Expressed Ryan Rigney, Program Lead at EBAD.
This contribution will not only expand the scope of students’ projects, allowing them to transform concepts into tangible prototypes, but will also align seamlessly with STEM principles, fostering a hands-on, real-world application of theoretical knowledge.
